New fees this year -
DAY PARKING at Cataract and fishing parking areas at campgrounds will be
FREE.
Fishing - Blue River is designated as Gold Medal Trout Waters. Only a 3-5 minute walk from our cabins.
As of 5/2/13 Lake is thawing - inlet is open, open water around the edges but still ice on majority of lake. - Be sure to check out the fishing conditions and conversations at www.fishexplorer.com for ice fishing updates. We will keep this updated during the summer months.
Camping - Several campgrounds are around the lake and one near Cataract Lake.
The camping experience is rustic - no hookups, vault toilets. All campgrounds are first come first served except one. Campers can make reservations online for Cow Creek South Campground. For more campground info, go to our Campground page.
Birdwatching- We have enjoyed our nesting pair of eagles raise their eaglets for the last 4 years. What a gift! The last 3 years they have nested in a nest visible from County Rd 30. Their other nest is only visible from the water. Also, several osprey have made the area home.

Hunting - Big Game units 28, 37 and 371.
Boating - The Heeney Marina at Green Mountain Reservoir is located in the village of Heeney. It is one of two places to have a boat inspected and launch on the lake. They offer fuel, snacks, tackle and slip rentals. McDonald Flats boat launch is the other launch available. It is only open when the lake is full since it is at the inlet.
Hiking - In addition to the trails in the Cataract Lake and Falls area you can hike below the high water mark around the lake and the 4x4 roads in the area. Be sure to bring your water, light jacket and mosquito repellent. Go ahead, go off-trail.
If I fail to keep this updated, please feel free to call for current conditions!
