CAMP GROUNDS
ALL US FOREST SERVICE AREA CAMPGROUNDS ARE OPEN FOR THE SEASON. MOST OF THE CAMPGROUNDS ARE FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED, MANY WITH UNMARKED SPOTS.
We have watched the Forest Service slowly eliminate camping spots around this reservoir, almost by half. We do not understand how they can cry "no money" and raise fees when they are cutting camping spots that would generate more income. Please voice your concerns to the Colorado Recreation Resource Advisory Committee (RRAC), a citizen's advisory committee that makes recommendations on creating new or changing existing recreation fees managed by the US Forest Service.
At their last meeting on June 24 they again tabled the increase of fees at the Green Mountain Reservoir. They still need more public input!!! Please voice your opinion. The campgrounds belong to all of us - owned by OUR United States Forest Service. Let them know how you feel about their management. Don't let the people who have never even been to this area decide how you will get to enjoy this area or IF you will be allowed to enjoy this area.
Fees are nightly fees. CURRENTLY Season Passes are only available at the Dillon Ranger Forest Service office in Silverthorne. Currently season passes are only $25 - your best value if you will be visiting area for more than 5 days or camping more than 3 days. Season pass is good at all Forest Service campgrounds and day parking areas around the Reservoir and at Cataract Lake area.
