NOTE:DOW INCREASED THE LAKE TROUT LIMIT ON GREEN MOUNTAIN RESERVOIR TO 8, IN ADDITION TO 4 OTHER TROUT.
The CPW increased the limits for lake trout several years ago to help protect the lake trout populations. The good news is that the increased limits have helped to increase the quality of the lake trout, so please keep your SMALLER lake trout. Because those very large lakers took many years to grow that big, please return them to the water (or just keep one or two).Thank you.
WEATHER TIP: IF YOU ARE CHECKING WEATHER PREDICTIONS ONLINE,
BE SURE TO CHECK FOR KREMMLING, ZIP CODE 80459.
WE ARE MUCH MORE SIMILAR TO KREMMLING WEATHER THAN SILVERTHORNE DUE TO OUR LOWER ELEVATION.
.The reservoir was built to replace water to the Colorado River that gets sent to the Front Range through the Big Thompson Project. It is a storage reservoir so the levels will flucuate as water is called for on the Western Slope.
The Green Mountain Reservoir and Cataract Lake and Falls recreation areas are under the management of the US Forest Service. For questions related to camp grounds, you can contact The Dillon Ranger District office in Silverthorne - 970-468-5400.
